Local legislator to begin another term as House Policy Committee chairman
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) today, at the state Capitol in Harrisburg, took the oath of office to serve the residents of the 171st Legislative District for a new two-year term.
“I’m honored and humbled to once again take on the great responsibility and privilege of representing the hard-working people of Centre and Mifflin counties,” Benninghoff said. “I will continue to do my best to make your voices heard in Harrisburg and to ensure your hard-earned tax dollars are spent wisely and prudently.”
For the second session in a row, Benninghoff will serve as chairman of the House Majority Policy Committee, a leadership position to which he was elected by his peers in the state House. As chairman, Benninghoff will conduct hearings about important issues, gather testimony and information from key stakeholders and work with his colleagues in the House Republican Caucus to develop policies to address those issues.
“The next two years are going to be challenging, but I see this upcoming legislative session as a tremendous opportunity to revamp how we run government, find efficiencies and better serve Pennsylvanians,” Benninghoff said. “With fresh, innovative thinking and a renewed effort toward finding cost-saving measures, I am confident we can tackle our budget challenges without asking those we represent to send more of their paychecks to Harrisburg. I am eager to begin the hard work necessary to implement much-needed reforms to state government.”
