WASHINGTON, D.C. – Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) joined state and local officials from across the country today for the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) signing at the White House with President Donald J. Trump. He issued the following statement after the signing:
“USMCA is a big win for Pennsylvania workers, farmers, employers and the entire economy. The agreement improves virtually every component of the old NAFTA, and the agriculture industry and manufacturing will gain significantly. Pennsylvania and American companies in general will now have robust copyright protections, data protection for biologic drugs and new protections against theft of trade secrets. Further, Pennsylvania’s ag industries will no longer be hostage to Canada’s protectionist policies. The USMCA will increase market access for Pennsylvania dairy products, eggs and poultry in Canadian markets.
“President Trump and his team have laid the foundation for a stronger economy through USMCA and we thank them for their hard work getting this to the finish line.”
