HARRISBURG – Gov. Tom Wolf’s $36.06 billion budget proposal for 2020-21 represents a dangerous increase of $2.05 billion over the previous year’s approved spending plan, according to Rep. Jim Gregory (R-Blair).
“I begin each budget season as a ‘no’ vote and keep an open mind to being swayed to a ‘yes’ if I see less borrowing and less spending,” Gregory said.
Gregory wants spending to be aligned with his support for the Taxpayer Protection Act, a Commonwealth Foundation initiative to keep spending growth limited to the pace of economic growth.
“At first glance, this budget proposal isn’t even close to what a majority of my constituents would consider to be a responsible budget,” Gregory said.
The 2020-21 budget will be negotiated and must be in place by July 1.
