HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim O’Neal (R-Washington) today issued the following statement on Gov. Tom Wolf’s $36.06 billion budget proposal for fiscal year 2020-21:

“This proposal continues the governor’s modus operandi of mismanagement, overspending and debt growth. I am puzzled that as a grandfather, Gov. Wolf would want to burden his grandchildren and their generation with bone-crushing debt that will hang over their heads and handicap the state’s future leaders.

“With our current robust economy, we should be planning for future downturns by adding to the Rainy Day Fund, not spending more money. If families throughout the Commonwealth ran their fiscal households like the governor wants to run the state, everyone would be bankrupt.

“This proposal is just the first step in the budget process. As we work toward a final plan in the coming months, I remain committed to creating a budget that is responsible and respectful of the taxpayers money.”
