HARRISBURG – State Rep. Barry Jozwiak (R-Berks) today issued the following statement outlining his state budget priorities after the governor delivered his annual budget address in Harrisburg to a joint session of the House and Senate:
“Pennsylvania taxpayers cannot afford all of the taxes, borrowing and spending included in the governor’s budget proposal. My colleagues in the House and I worked hard in recent years to pay down the Commonwealth’s debt and reduce the burden on taxpayers. The governor’s plan calls for putting more and more spending on the Commonwealth’s credit card, but eventually taxpayers will be forced to pay that bill. Rather than simply throwing more money around, Pennsylvania needs to control state spending while working to completely overhaul the way it funds education by eliminating the school district property tax.”
