HARRISBURG – Gov. Tom Wolf’s proposal to spend $36.06 billion in 2020-21 would increase spending an unsustainable 4.2%, or $2.05 billion, over the previous year’s approved budget, according to Rep. Sheryl Delozier (R-Cumberland).
“Last year, we worked together to develop a budget that kept spending under control, invested in workforce development and education, and transferred money to the Rainy Day Fund. This proposal from the governor takes us back in the wrong direction,” Delozier said. “Once again, the governor has proposed spending more than we have. We will continue to push back on his overspending and craft a budget that is fair to the taxpayers.”
The 2020-21 budget will be negotiated and must be in place by July 1.
