TAMAQUA, Schuylkill County – In response to the Schuylkill County Commissioner’s decision to withdraw their support from a letter sent to Gov. Tom Wolf on Saturday, May 9, concerning the county moving from the “red phase” to the “yellow phase,” Sen. Dave Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks) and Reps. Jerry Knowles (R-Schuylkill/Berks/Carbon) and Mike Tobash (R-Schuylkill/Dauphin) released the following statement:
“Two letters that we sent to the governor about moving Schuylkill County into the yellow phase speak for themselves,” said Knowles. “Many county commissioners, legislators and district attorneys are working hard to level the playing field allowing small business to do what big box stores have been doing throughout this crisis. My position has not changed.”
“I still feel strongly that starting to let businesses operate safely, which is occurring in almost every other state, just makes common sense,” said Tobash. “I am disappointed in the governor’s unwillingness to consider our request to move forward and feel terrible for the people who are losing everything they’ve worked hard for. I will continue to push for the personal and financial health of everyone.”
“This battle is not yet over,” said Argall. “I’m not giving up!”
