HARRISBURG – Members of the Pennsylvania Senate and House of Representatives representing Cumberland County are pleased to announce they voted to send nearly $23 million in COVID-19 relief to Cumberland County commissioners to distribute to small businesses and organizations adversely affected by the governor’s orders and regulations over the last three months. The delegation, which consists of Reps. Barb Gleim (R-Cumberland), Greg Rothman (R-Cumberland), Torren Ecker (R-Cumberland/Adams), Dawn Keefer (R-Cumberland/York), Sheryl Delozier (R-Cumberland) and Mark Keller (R-Perry/Cumberland); and Sens. Judy Ward (R-30), Mike Regan (R-31) and Doug Mastriano (R-33), issued the following statement:
“Understanding the challenges COVID-19 and Gov. Tom Wolf’s draconian measures of shutting down the economy have placed on Cumberland County’s citizens, and the lack of support from the county commissioners, we have taken the lead to secure the resources needed to protect lives and livelihoods.
“In passing
Senate Bill 1108, we voted to allocate $22.9 million for Cumberland County and we expect the commissioners will quickly get the aid out to those people who have had their businesses and lives upended by the COVID-19 pandemic and arbitrary and capricious decisions made by the Wolf administration.
“We expect the aid will be fairly distributed geographically and with consideration to those businesses including small retail, restaurants and hotels that have seen their businesses closed by order of the governor.
“In addition to the $22.9 million, the General Assembly has passed a budget that fully funds education, pension obligations, retiree payments, debt obligations and the essential functions of state government.
“It is time to move Cumberland County into recovery stage. We expect the commissioners to act quickly, fairly and decisively. The 253,000 people we represent have waited for action long enough and are ready to safely reopen and recover.
