HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim O’Neal (R-Washington) today issued the following statement in response to Speaker Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) retiring from office:
“From my first day in office in June 2018, Speaker Turzai made me feel welcome. I appreciate his mentorship as a fellow member from western Pennsylvania. His hard work not only for his constituents but for all the residents of Pennsylvania is laudable. I can only hope to be half the legislator he was.
“In addition to being a member of the General Assembly, Speaker Turzai has led the House with a steady hand and shown great statesmanship during his tenure as majority leader and speaker. He has treated members from both sides of the aisle with fairness and respect. Whomever replaces him as speaker will have big shoes to fill. I wish him much success in his next pursuit.”
The 48th Legislative District in Washington County includes the city of Washington; Chartiers, North Franklin, North Strabane and South Strabane townships; and Canonsburg, East Washington and Houston boroughs.
