HARRISBURG – Rep. Ryan Warner (R-Fayette/Westmoreland) issued the following statement after Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) announced his intentions to retire from the state House next week.

“Mike is, first and foremost, a friend. He has also been a mentor to me and a terrific leader in the state House throughout his tenure here.

“We have known since January – when he announced he wouldn’t be running for re-election – that Mike would be stepping down before the end of his term. I was honored to be one of just a few members invited to his office in Pittsburgh for the announcement and was struck by what an emotional day it was. Mike Turzai has so much passion for this institution, for his constituents, his colleagues and the entire Commonwealth. And I’venever met anyone with a stronger work ethic.

“His departure is a major loss, not only for the House of Representatives but for all Pennsylvanians. I wish him continued success.”
