HARRISBURG – In response to comments made by Gov. Tom Wolf about a transparency bill passed by the Legislature with unanimous support, Rep. Seth Grove (R-Dover) issued the following statement:
“At WellSpan York Hospital today, the governorbacked off claims House Bill 2463 would force ‘the problematic and risky disclosure of information related to critical infrastructure and various other public safety sectors,’ but now says state employees couldn’t abide by the Right-to-Know (RTK) law timeline of five days plus an additional extension of 30 days for a total of 35 days to provide documents.
“
House Bill 2463 already envisions this by having the Office of Open Records provide guidance weighing employee safety with government transparency.
“Since March 12, the Office of Open Records has issued advisory notifications and provided updates based on orders from the governor andthe Department of Health.
“Further, the General Assembly, the treasurer, the auditor general, the attorney general, local governments and school districts have safely responded to RTK requests throughout this global pandemic.
“All of the governor's issues have been addressed. It’s time to sign House Bill 2463.”
