HARRISBURG – Responding to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association’s (PIAA) and the governor’s decision to prohibit spectators from attending any fall sports games for the upcoming school year, State Representative Rosemary Brown (R-Monroe/Pike) is speaking out and has joined over 60 House Republicans in sending a letter requesting them to reverse or modify their rulings. Brown provided the following statement on this matter.
“While the governor and the PIAA have good intentions with a crowd- limiting ruling, it is absolutely doable for us to allow families and their children to have some normalcy here while being safe,” said Brown. “This ruling makes it impossible for family and friends to support our youth athletes and teams, and doesn’t allow them to attend games. We need to create positivity and bring some of our normal daily activities back when possible. After all that has happened during this pandemic, the goal is to keep people safe while working to maintain as much of our normal lives as possible- we can absolutely do this safely, especially with outdoor sports. I am encouraging the governor and the PIAA to put parameters in place, support safety and absolutely loosen this restrictive ruling. We can and need to do this for our families and children.”
