HARRISBURG—A resolution sponsored by Rep. Todd Stephens (R-Montgomery) recognizing Korean businesses and leaders who donated supplies to fight COVID-19 passed the House.
“Montgomery County was one of the hardest impacted by the coronavirus pandemic leaving local emergency service providers and senior communities in desperate need of personal protective equipment,” Stephens said. “At the height of the pandemic we were scrambling to help local EMS providers and seniors and, thankfully, these Korean organizations and leaders stepped forward to fill in the gaps and save lives.”
During the height of the pandemic, four generous individuals-- Jay Sung, president of BOB International; Osang Park, president of NYBEE Inc.; Master Bong Pil Yang, general secretary of 21st Century America-Korea-China Leaders Society; and Sung Woong Kim, president of Korean Vietnam War Veterans Association PA-- collectively donated over 40,000 pieces of personal protective equipment.
House Resolution 1057 honored the individuals in Harrisburg for their efforts.
As of Oct. 13, Montgomery County has had 12,830 positive cases of COVID-19 and 890 deaths.
“Without the donations of PPE from Mr. Sung, Mr. Park, Master Yang and Mr. Kim, the number of positive cases and deaths in Montgomery County would surely be higher,” Stephens said.
