EAST STROUDSBURG – This week, state Rep. Rosemary M. Brown’s (R-Monroe/Pike) husband, Joe Brown, tested positive for COVID-19. Upon the development of symptoms, the immediate Brown family has quarantined and is consulting with their family doctor regularly. Brown’s husband remains the only family member symptomatic.
“Of course, I am concerned for my husband’s health but he is doing well, displaying mild symptoms. We appreciate our family and friends who have generously sent their well wishes and prayers.” said Brown. “I am equally concerned and acknowledge the transmission rate for this virus and, though I am not showing symptoms, began personally quarantining at the earliest possible stage. Fortunately, I was conducting work and meetings remotely 24 hours prior to his development of symptoms.
“I believe honesty, transparency and personal responsibility are all traits we should display, but especially during these tumultuous times where our actions could have drastic impacts on the surrounding community. I have been a proponent of individual accountability, personal discipline and caution since the beginning of this health crisis, and plan to act in accordance with those sentiments through my personal experiences. While we are not obligated to disclose my husband’s health, due to my public position we have chosen to communicate openly,” Brown added.
Out of an abundance of caution, Brown’s district office will close to public traffic for two weeks but will remain open and available to provide constituent services via phone, email and virtual meetings as they did throughout the lockdown. The district office has been open to the public since mid-June and requires masking or face shields, regular sanitation and social distancing. Brown thanks the public for always cooperating with these requests and her staff for their caution and hard work as well.
“Constituent services continue to be a pillar of my work in the district. My staff and I worked hard to never waiver in dedication throughout this pandemic,” Brown stated. “My office phone lines were always open and we were always accessible. Due to the continued volume from constituents, it is extremely clear individuals have turned to their elected officials now more than ever, sharing their concerns, frustrations and questions. It is an honor to serve the 189th legislative district and I will always be accessible and work diligently to serve you.”
