HARRISBURG – Rep. Mike Puskaric (R-Allegheny/Washington) today announced that he will be serving on four House standing committees for the 2021-22 Legislative Session.
“I look forward to addressing the challenges that face Pennsylvania through my service on these committees,” said Puskaric. “I am confident that my experience will benefit the residents of the 39th District.”
Puskaric, who just started his second term in the House of Representatives, will be a member of the following committees: Commerce, Education, Insurance, and Labor and Industry.
The
House Commerce Committee is responsible for originating legislation and overseeing implementation of programs which affect Pennsylvania companies. The committee has primary jurisdiction over corporate governance through the business corporation law, as well as regulation of offers of sale and credit through such statutes as the Goods and Services Installment Sales Act, the Unfair Sales Act, and the Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Act.
The
Education Committee works on statue issues involving public and private schools, encompassing pre-K through grade 12 basic education, as well as career and technical education and post-secondary education.
“As a member of the Education Committee, I need to stay on top of changing policies, legislation and other regulations that can affect our students’ learning in the classroom,” said Puskaric. “Education has always been one of my top priorities as a state legislator. A good education provides stability in life, and it’s something that no one can ever take away from you.”
The
House Insurance Committee helps to oversee the Insurance Department and ensure any legislation running through the House that pertains to insurance matters is studied with extreme care. In addition, the committee will examine legislation that will ensure insurance regulations are fairly enforced while being mindful of the consumer.
The
Labor and Industry Committee focuses on issues impacting jobs across the state. Legislation the committee deals with includes unemployment compensation, job training, child labor laws, workers’ compensation and the Prevailing Wage Act.
“I am eager to get to work and make sure all my constituents are represented in the best way,” said Puskaric.
