HARRISBURG – Rep. John Hershey (R-Mifflin/Juniata/Franklin) has been named to five committees for his second term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Hershey’s assignments are the Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Appropriations, Government Oversight, Health, and Judiciary committees.

“Being named to these committees is a big responsibility. I’m up for the challenge and will work with my fellow committee members to put forward thoughtful, well-crafted legislation to address major issues in the Commonwealth,” Hershey said.

Hershey previously served on the Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Health, and Judiciary committees.

Hershey, who has a background in agriculture, said he wants to continue to do what he can to promote a rural way of life as a member of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee. Agriculture is the leading industry in the 82nd District and the Commonwealth as a whole.

The Health Committee will give Hershey an opportunity to fight for the rights of the unborn and help Pennsylvanians with COVID-19 recovery.

The Judiciary Committee reviews issues that include gun rights and support of law enforcement.

“As a new member of the Appropriations Committee, I will play a role in crafting the state budget package that goes to the full House for its consideration. Additionally, the Government Oversight Committee will probe why the governor’s administration has made the choices it has, including directives that affect nursing homes, unemployment compensation and business shutdown orders,” Hershey said.
