HARRISBURG – House Republican leaders have announced committee assignments for the 2021-22 Legislative Session, naming Rep. Tim Hennessey (R-Chester/Montgomery) to his second consecutive term as chairman of the House Transportation Committee. Hennessey was also reappointed to the House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee, a committee he has served on for many years and previously chaired.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue my work on these very important committees and to have the confidence of our House leadership team,” said Hennessey. The committees provide legislative oversight in their specific areas of responsibility and work to vet, strengthen and advance legislation for consideration in the House.
The Transportation Committee is responsible for reviewing motor vehicle laws and regulations, mandatory insurance and coverage minimums, parking, local enforcement, mass transit codes, rail issues, PennDOT planning, oversight of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, airports, scenic highways and highway naming.
The House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee is responsible for all programs and services stemming from the State Lottery Law, such as prescription drug and senior transportation programs, long-term care and assisted living licensure, and home and community-based services. The committee also provides oversight of Area Agencies on Aging; the Department of Aging; Pennsylvania Council on Aging; Intra-Governmental Council on Long-Term Care and matters dealing with elder abuse. Together with the Finance Committee, it also oversees the Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program.
