HARRISBURG - The House today approved
House Bill 63 to establish the COVID-19 Vaccine Administration and Distribution Act and require those permitted to vaccinate for COVID-19 by the Department of Health and Human Services to administer vaccines in the Commonwealth. Rep. Greg Rothman (R-Cumberland) voted for the legislation and issued the following statement in support of its passage:
“For many of our constituents, health care providers in the Commonwealth have been forced to deal with regulations that are hampering the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines. Pennsylvanians have had to wait not only in physical lines but in many instances, are also waiting for the availability of the vaccine at their local hospitals and other distributors.
“The Vaccine Administration and Distribution Act would require the state to follow federal guidelines, increase the number of capable providers and increase the capacity for small providers to attain vaccines. In order to serve the greatest number of Pennsylvanians, we must be able to allow those who are permitted under the federal pharmacy partnership and the retail pharmacy partnership to also provide vaccination services in the state-run vaccination program.
“I was proud to vote for this legislation and I strongly urge my colleagues in the Senate to approve this bill and for the governor to sign it into law. We must work together to end this crisis by getting those vaccinated who wish to be vaccinated as soon as possible.”
