HARRISBURG –Rep. Tim Hennessey (R-Chester/Montgomery), majority chairman of the House Transportation Committee, sent a letter to secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Yassmin Gramian, asking for an update on regulatory and enforcement matters at PennDOT that have been suspended, waived or modified during the COVID-19 emergency.
“The pandemic has changed the way state agencies have operated in the past year and forced them to find new and creative ways to perform their duties and continue to serve the citizens of Pennsylvania. Now, as we begin to emerge from the cloud of this pandemic, it is appropriate to evaluate the services, regulations and enforcement actions that were suspended, waived or changed to determine what is truly necessary or no longer needed,” said Hennessey.
“Efficiency is always a goal in good government and is a priority of the House Economic Recovery Task Force as we attempt to rebuild our economy in this pandemic. Our examination rightly includes potential reforms that could benefit job creators and Pennsylvania taxpayers,” Hennessey said.
In addition to information regarding changes in PennDOT protocols during the pandemic, Hennessey is asking Gramian to provide an update on the status of these protocols and when the department plans to reinstate regulatory actions waived or suspended, among other questions.
