HARRISBURG – Rep. Gary W. Day (R-Lehigh/Berks), chairman of the House Aging and Older Adults Services Committee held an informational meeting with Department of Aging Secretary Robert Torres and members from the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) network throughout the state.

This informational discussion allowed both new members to the committee and returning members to ask about services and resources available to seniors throughout the Commonwealth, provided by Aging and AAA’s. Westmoreland County AAA Director Carrie Nelson and Northampton County AAA Director Laurie Greco presented information on what their county agencies have to offer.

“I think it is important that my fellow lawmakers understand the resources that are available to not only their offices, but what we can help provide to our constituents,” said Day. “Secretary Torres has been a true ally to this committee, in that whenever his presence is requested to give the members of this committee a better understanding as to what his department does, he shows up. I was pleased to be joined by two directors of county Area Agencies on Aging, that outlined some of the resources they can assist our constituents with, including helping our seniors navigate the COVID-19 vaccine registration or providing income tax preparation information. Our area agencies on aging throughout this Commonwealth stand ready to assist our seniors, older adults and disabled Pennsylvanians with any questions they may face.”
