HARRISBURG – Rep. Karen Boback (R-Lackawanna/Luzerne/Wyoming), chairman of the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, announced the unanimous passage of a package of bills that seeks to focus on assisting veterans and their families by increasing state funding and enhancing state veterans’ programs. Additional legislation seeks to further improve state veterans oversight boards.
“It is imperative we continue to recognize and honor all of those who so valiantly served and fought for this great Commonwealth and nation,” said Boback. “As we approach Memorial Day, followed by the 4th of July celebration, the founding of this great country, the committee voted unanimously to pass all 12 bills and resolutions ‘For Those Who Served.’ I am tremendously proud of the work we are doing to honor our veterans and service members in many different forms through the legislation passed by the committee this week. Pieces of legislation passed seek to add additional members to and offer reforms to our veterans’ oversight boards, while others increase much-needed funding to the many state veterans’ programs Pennsylvania has to offer. I look forward to seeing each of these enacted.”
