HARRISBURG – After leading 10 hearings on Pennsylvania’s election process, Rep. Seth Grove (R-Dover), chairman of the House State Government Committee, shared his insights with members of the United States House Election Integrity Caucus during a virtual roundtable discussion on Wednesday.
“This was a great opportunity to highlight our work on election integrity in Pennsylvania at a national forum chaired by two members of Congress who have a firm grasp on our elections,” Grove said.
The Election Integrity Caucus was launched by U.S. Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) and Mike Garcia (R-CA) to serve as a platform for members of Congress to come together and proactively educate and inform the American people about issues related to election security and activity, drive commonsense policy solutions to restore faith in the democratic process and improve the administration of elections. It's our goal is to ensure Americans in every state and territory have confidence in free, fair, accurate and transparent elections.
In Pennsylvania, Grove crafted the Voting Rights Protection Act (
House Bill 1300) based on the findings from the House State Government Committee hearings on elections. Unfortunately, Gov. Tom Wolf haphazardly vetoed the bill, inaccurately claiming voter identification requirements suppressed voters. Earlier this week, Wolf said he is now in favor of voter identification.
“Since the governor made it clear he’s in favor of some voter identification, I have circulated a co-sponsorship memo to reintroduce the Voting Rights Protection Act,” Grove said. “It’s not often we get a second chance in the Legislature. I hope the governor recognizes this rare opportunity and comes to the negotiation table this time.”
