HARRISBURG – Gov. Tom Wolf’s announcement today that face masks will be required in pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade classrooms takes decision-making power away from locally elected school boards, according to Rep. Jim Gregory (R-Blair), a former school board member himself.

Gregory feels the mask mandate also fails to recognize that the spread of COVID-19 is occurring at high rates in select areas of the state, rather than everywhere.

“The people who should be overseeing school operations are those board members chosen by local voters, not an overreaching executive in Harrisburg,” Gregory said.
