HARRISBURG – Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Bedford/Somerset) issued the following statement on the governor’s decision to institute a statewide mask mandate for K-12 schools and day cares:
“Gov. Wolf’s statewide mask mandate in all Pennsylvania K-12 schools is absurd. Students are returning to in-person classes and school districts are trying to make the school routine as normal as possible, but of course, the governor needs to put in his two cents that no one asked for.”
“This latest announcement not only attacks our children, but also shows the lack of leadership the Commonwealth has in the governor’s office. For the last year and a half, Gov. Wolf has continually changed his mind on the well-being for Pennsylvanians. We are exhausted from the whiplash, especially when it comes to our children.”
“As a father, it is a disgrace to have a man has no sense of direction lead our state.”
“On Election Day in May, the people spoke loud and clear. They do not want any more state mandates, nor do they want advice from the governor.”
“It seems as if Gov. Wolf’s name has become irrelevant, so he needed to prove his authority again to the media. At the end of the day, the governor is not the one suffering from the outcomes of COVID-19 – it’s our children who are suffering the most.”
“Governor Wolf, leave our kids alone.”
