HARRISBURG - A bill that would amend Title 67 (Public Welfare) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statues involving provisions related to adoption opportunities, family finding and kinship care, passed the House of Representatives on Monday, the bill was sponsored by Children and Youth Chairman Rep. Sheryl Delozier (R-Cumberland).
Under Title 67,
House Bill 1650 sets up the organization for future regulations to protect our children.
In addition,
House Bill 1657 passed. The bill, introduced by Rep. Mackenzie (R-Lehigh/Montgomery/Northampton), will close a legal loophole in the definition of “child abuse” concerning a child present where methamphetamine is being produced.
“I am glad there was swift consideration made by the House on this important measure,” said Delozier. “We are determined to protect children and recognize specific parts of child abuse that can go overlooked.”
The bill was passed out of the Children and Youth Committee in June.
Both bills will go to the Senate for consideration.
Questions about the bills or any legislative issue should be directed to Rep. Delozier’s district office at 717-761-4665.
