HARRISBURG – Rep. Craig Staats (R-Quakertown) this week hosted a House State Government Committee hearing to allow Bucks County and other residents from Southeast Pennsylvania to offer testimony on the upcoming congressional redistricting process.
The most open and impartial redistricting process yet, the House State Government Committee invited community members from each region of Pennsylvania to share their ideas on how to best redraw the congressional maps following the 2020 census.
“I want to thank all those who testified, as they represented a wide variety of communities and interests,” Staats said. “Know that we will weigh all the ideas we heard when redrawing the congressional districts and will share what we learned today with our House colleagues as we continue our fight to make this the most transparent redistricting process yet.”
The committee heard from many community residents and leaders who offered in-person and written testimony, including Bob Harvie and Gene DiGirolamo from the Bucks County Board of Commissioners, and Marian D. Moskowitz, chair of Chester County Board of Commissioners and Chester County Board of Elections.

The U.S. Census is administrated once every 10 years to gather information, which ultimately determines how many U.S. Representatives are allotted per state, based on population. Following completion of the U.S. Census, each state is to receive the data and conduct a redrawing of congressional districts to reflect equal and fair representations, known as redistricting.
