HARRISBURG – Rep. Tracy Pennycuick (R-Montgomery) offered the following statement regarding Gov. Tom Wolf’s announcement to grant state employees five days off – or receive an equivalent paid bonus – in exchange for getting a COVID-19 vaccine.
“State workers have had plenty of time to make the decision about whether or not to get the vaccine. What the governor is proposing is completely irresponsible. It is estimated the governor’s plan will cost Pennsylvania taxpayers more than $100 million.
“State employees are given ample leave time to get the vaccine through already-established policies and union contracts. To put this financial burden on the people of Pennsylvania during an already challenging economic time is outrageous.
“I also want to clarify that his plan only applies to ‘state workers’ and does not apply to any employees of the state Legislature.”
