HARRISBURG – Following passage of
House Bill 1801 on Wednesday, which would restore $3.15 billion in K-12 education funding vetoed by Gov. Tom Wolf in December, Rep. Rick Saccone (R-Washington/Allegheny) issued the following statement:
“Let’s be clear: The governor vetoed more than $3 billion in education funding in December to blackmail the Legislature into raising taxes on a massive scale. He’s holding our kids hostage, and enough is enough. The game is over. Today, we saw members of the governor’s own party begin to abandon his reckless strategy. While Tom Wolf seems perfectly willing to shut down schools, it seems that fewer and fewer of his fellow Democrats want to drive over that cliff with him. The governor may well veto this historic increase in education funding, but we’re inching closer and closer to override territory.”
