Mar. 16, 2016

HARRISBURG – Rep Craig Staats (R-Bucks) issued the following statement after he voted to send Gov. Tom Wolf a supplemental budget to complete the remaining 13 percent of the 2015-16 budget. The bill passed today, if signed by the governor, will restore cuts to education, hospital, corrections and agriculture line items that were reduced when Wolf line-item vetoed the budget on Dec. 29, 2015.

“This is the fourth budget bill we have sent to the governor and it is well past time for this to be resolved. We must finish the 2015-16 budget before we begin debate on next year’s budget. There will be serious consequences if schools are denied their funding. Hospitals and agricultural programs are also in desperate need of their allotments.

“If he vetoes this supplemental budget, Gov. Wolf will be manufacturing yet another crisis. Today, he has the opportunity to restore funding to education and ensure that schools across Pennsylvania remain open. I encourage Gov. Wolf to sign this budget so we are able to move forward.”
