HARRISBURG – To make the Commonwealth more hospitable for new and current businesses, Rep. Adam Harris (R-Franklin/Juniata/Mifflin) drafted legislation to revise and harmonize Pennsylvania’s existing partnership laws with the Uniform Laws, which are substantially clearer and easier to use. The House passed the bill unanimously today.

“This bill focuses on making the current laws more user-friendly for businesses in Pennsylvania. Having the most modern and up-to-date business laws will help active businesses grow, and it will encourage new businesses to choose Pennsylvania as their home,” Harris said. “Unfortunately, we still see far too many signs of the recession, but I am optimistic that this bill will provide another opportunity for Pennsylvania businesses to move forward.”

House Bill 1398 would modernize the law on limited liability partnerships, general partnerships, limited partnerships and limited liability companies.

“As I have worked to update our state laws and make them easier to follow for business owners, I have been thankful for the support of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry and the National Federation of Independent Businesses,” Harris said.

Since House Bill 1398 passed in the House, it now goes to the Senate for consideration.
