HARRISBURG – Today, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed three individual appropriation bills that would begin to restore the line-item vetoes that the governor enacted when he signed House Bill 1460 into law as Act 10A of 2015 on Dec. 29.

House Bill 1801 passed by a vote of 116-65 and included a restoration of $939 million that was vetoed by Gov. Tom Wolf in the Department of Corrections. House Bill 1802 passed by a vote of 127-53 and included a restoration of $1 million that was vetoed by Wolf for Child Advocacy Centers. House Bill 1803 passed by a vote of 117-61 and included a restoration of $3.8 million that was vetoed by Wolf for Hospital-Based Burn Centers.

“I was proud to support these three bills that begin the process of undoing the governor’s line-item vetoes. The governor’s action in December to veto $6.4 billion from House Bill 1460 put the health and safety of Pennsylvanians at risk. It is incumbent upon us as legislators to make sure we look out for Pennsylvania’s most vulnerable citizens.

“The bipartisan vote today shows that Gov. Wolf has been wrong in his approach to use our prisons, children, and critically injured citizens as hostages for higher taxes. Members on both sides of the aisle are tired of the governor’s gamesmanship.

“We must focus on finishing the current year budget and then focus on ensuring that we have a balanced budget for the next fiscal year. We will continue to run these individual appropriations until all of the Wolf line-item vetoes are reversed.

“Going forward I am committed to working with my colleagues to get the job done. We need to come together and put aside the campaign rhetoric and finish the 2015-16 budget.”
