HARRISBURG – Rep. Jason Silvis (R-Westmoreland/Armstrong/Indiana) today issued the following statement in response to Gov. Tom Wolf’s $43.7 billion budget proposal for fiscal year 2022-23:

“The governor must be living in an alternate universe. There would be no budget surplus for him to talk about if House Republicans had not stopped his insatiable spending ways for the past seven years.

“Every year the governor proposed a pie-in-the-sky plan that is not grounded in real fiscal reality. Today was more of the same. He uses voodoo math in order to increase spending by 16.6% over the current fiscal year. These are not one-time costs and are not sustainable. Every year, there is normal growth in programs for people with intellectual disabilities, older Pennsylvanians and educating our children. His plan will throw us into a fiscal tailspin.

“This is not a budget. A budget is balanced and makes sense. I’m disappointed that after seven years in office, the governor continues to deliver this kind of nonsense to us.”
