HARRISBURG –Today, as Gov. Tom Wolf proposed spending an additional $6.2 billion in 2022-23, Rep. Andrew Lewis (R-Dauphin) doubled down on his commitment to opposing out-of-control spending that would harm taxpayers both today and in the future.

“The governor is proposing a budget that would undoubtedly necessitate future tax hikes. I refuse to go along with that plan, as do my fellow Republicans in the General Assembly, so we need to have a productive conversation about sustainable budgets and saving for the years to come,” Lewis said. “The governor may want to leave behind debt for my children, but I refuse to do it.”

Lewis is a proponent of the House Bill 71, known as the Taxpayer Protection Act, which would restrict spending to the rates of population growth and inflation. House Bill 71 is before the House State Government Committee.
