HARRISBURG – Rep. Barry Jozwiak (R-Berks) discusses the negative impact the proposed democratic spending plan will have on the Commonwealth following the governor’s budget address.
“Since the beginning of his tenure as governor, Gov. Tom Wolf has always put forward a budget proposal that would excessively spend taxpayer’s hard-earned money while also looking to tax our citizens more to compensate for that spending – this year is no different,” said Jozwiak. “For the current fiscal year the governor is looking in increase our state spending by almost 17% which equates to $6.2 billion and is asking for a budget that would total $43.7 billion. This kind of spending would set back Pennsylvania tremendously over the next several years and would put a heavy burden on our citizens.
“Wolf is trying to pave the way for his legacy and promote what he deems as his accomplishments, yet those accomplishments would not have been achieved without the leadership of the General Assembly. The only legacy that he will leave behind is one that reflects overuse of state tax dollars and lack of cooperation with the General Assembly.”
