HARRISBURG – Following today’s 115-86 passage of a $30.26 billion state budget for fiscal year 2015-16, Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (Berks/Lehigh) issued the following statement:
“The House passed a fiscally responsible budget proposal that would protect taxpayers from massive tax increases and appropriately fund core services of state government. The proposal makes a record investment in education, increasing funding by $405 million over last year. Additionally, it contains substantial funding increases for individuals with special needs, including a $30 million increase for special education and $40 million in new funding to expand services for Pennsylvanians with physical disabilities. This is the fourth time I have voted to send funding to schools, counties, and human service organizations. I hope the Senate and the governor will consider this fiscally responsible approach that provides critical funding.”
