HARRISBURG – Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, will be designated “Morgan Craft Day” in Pennsylvania under legislation that was approved Tuesday by the state House of Representatives, announced Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna), who sponsored the House resolution marking the day.
Morgan Craft, a resident of Sullivan County as well as a national and international champion in women’s skeet, recently earned a spot on the United States Olympic team for the XXXI Olympiad to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, during the summer of 2016.
“The 110th District, and all of Sullivan County, are very proud of Morgan’s accomplishments,” Pickett said. “We are thrilled that someone from Sullivan County has competed so well in international competitions, and that’s why it is only fitting to declare Friday as Morgan Craft Day in Pennsylvania.”
After becoming world champion of the women’s individual event at the 2015 International Shooting Sport Federation World Championships, Craft competed with two other teammates from the United States, won the team gold medal and equaled the world record of 215 targets in women’s skeet. This accomplishment allowed Craft to claim one of two available spots on the U.S. Olympic Team.
Craft, 22, was raised in Muncy Valley, Sullivan County, and graduated from Sullivan County High School, where she was a member of the shotgun sports team and 4-H shooting sports program.
“We wish Morgan the very best of luck as she trains and competes in Rio next summer,” Pickett added.
House Resolution 596 was approved unanimously.
