HARRISBURG – Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) today joined the majority of his colleagues in the House in supporting a responsible, balanced budget that slows the growth of government.

Ortitay issued the following message after the vote:

“Today’s vote sends a clear message to Gov. Tom Wolf. The support for his excessive tax-and-spend mentality simply does not exist in the House. Pennsylvanians want a responsible, balanced budget that helps, not hurts, middle-class working families and small businesses.

“I was elected to be a good, fiscal steward of taxpayer dollars, not to support the unnecessary taxes, borrowing and irresponsible spending that the governor wants. We must protect taxpayers, slow the growth of government and live within our means.

“The spending plan approved today is a positive step forward. As we look to bring the state’s budget impasse to a resolve, our focus needs to be on accountability and real cost-saving measures, not higher taxes.

“Prudent budgeting that protect taxpayers, not Harrisburg as usual, must be our approach.”
