WHAT: The House Children and Youth Committee, led by Rep. Kathy Watson (R-Bucks/144th), will hold an informational meeting focusing on the juvenile justice system in Pennsylvania. In addition to an overview of the system by the Juvenile Court Judges’ Commission (JCJC), among the topics discussed will be the latest statistical information on placement, recidivism and expenditures; along with the overarching philosophy of Balanced and Restorative Justice (BARJ), which has guided the JCJC’s mission and juvenile justice for the past 20 years.
WHO: Watson and members of the committee. Those expected to offer testimony at the hearing include Keith Snyder, executive director, and Richard Steele, deputy director, of the Juvenile Court Judges’ Commission.
