HARRISBURG – Legislation authored by state Rep. Curt Sonney (R-Harborcreek) that addresses Pennsylvanians’ eligibility in PACE and PACENET, Pennsylvania's prescription assistance programs, was passed Tuesday by the House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee.
House Bill 190 is part of a three-bill package dealing with PACE and PACENET eligibility that passed unanimously and may now be taken up by the full House.
“PACE and PACENET provide low-cost prescription drugs to nearly 300,000 Pennsylvanians age 65 and older,” said Sonney. “My bill, which would exclude interest on savings bonds from the definition of income for PACE and PACENET eligibility, keeps many of them on the rolls without interruption.”
The committee also passed the following bills:

House Bill 493 - Excludes state veterans benefits from the definition of income for PACE and PACENET.

House Bill 777 - Expanding the moratorium on the Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for anyone currently enrolled in PACE and PACENET.
“Right now, more than 70 people in the 4th District alone will be ineligible for PACE and PACENET because of last year’s COLA,” Sonney added. “That number is 16,000 statewide, which demonstrates the need to get House Bill 777, along with the two other bills, to Gov. Tom Wolf’s desk as soon as possible.”
