HARRISBURG – Rep. Mike Puskaric (R-Allegheny/Washington) has introduced resolutions that would support a person’s freedom of speech on social media platforms and urge federal leaders to make the Commonwealth a hub for high quality energy services.

House Resolution 184 would urge all Commonwealth agencies to remove social media accounts from platforms that censor content and encourage them to switch to alternative platforms that respect the rights of all Pennsylvanians.

“Commonwealth agencies should not be using social media platforms that infringe upon our freedoms,” said Puskaric. “This censorship is not only in violation of the freedom of speech granted to us by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, but also Article 1 of the Pennsylvania Constitution, which protects the free communication of thoughts and opinions of each citizen.”

In addition, Puskaric has introduced House Resolution 183 that would urge President Joe Biden and the U.S. Congress to designate Pennsylvania as a hydrogen hub.

“As part of the recently enacted federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, $8 billion will be provided over five years for the establishment of four regional clean hydrogen hubs,” said Puskaric. “Pennsylvania should be included in this tremendous opportunity to lead the way in a promising potential energy source of the future.”

Puskaric notes that one of the requirements of federal law is that two of the hubs be located within leading natural gas producing regions. Pennsylvania is the second leading producer of gas in the U.S. and situated perfectly to fulfill this requirement.

“Pennsylvania has been an energy leader throughout its history and being selected as a hydrogen hub will allow us to continue this important trend, help grow our energy economy and bring a number of new jobs to our Commonwealth,” Puskaric added.

Both resolutions await consideration by the House of Representatives.
