HARRISBURG- Rep. Gary Day (R-Lehigh/Berks) today issued the following statement in response to Acting Secretary of State Leigh Chapman’s concerns about Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin’s plan to have detectives watching ballot drop-boxes to make sure individuals do not drop off multiple ballots at the polls:
“It is unconscionable that a top administration official would be ‘concerned’ about the enforcement of election laws.
“I am calling on Acting Secretary of State Chapman to listen to voters who have been disenfranchised, and secure election procedures in Pennsylvania.
“The Wolf administration should evaluate and deploy appropriate measures to have secure elections in Pennsylvania. Requiring voter ID, reporting election misconduct and other provisions contained in the seven election security bills I authored, would go a long way in providing election security in Pennsylvania.”
