HARRISBURG – Legislation that would streamline the Administrative Code by removing references to two terminated entities passed the House according to the bill’s sponsor, Rep. Jeff Wheeland (R-Lycoming).
“My bill would simply update the Administrative Code by removing references to two outdated provisions. There is no need for the Sunset Act to reference a commission and board that are no longer in existence,” said Wheeland.
The Sunset Act set a timetable for the review and possible termination of state agencies, boards, bureaus, commissions, committees, councils and other units of government. Most entities were extended by the General Assembly, but some were terminated under the terms of the act. The Administrative Code of 1929 includes references to the State Art Commission and State Board of Public Welfare which were terminated in 1988 and 1986, respectively. Wheeland’s bill simply removes them from Administrative Code.
The House passed
House Bill 2115 by a unanimous vote. The measure now goes to the Senate for its consideration.
