HARRISBURG – Rep. Lori Mizgorski’s (R-Allegheny) bill to help boost workforce development in the Commonwealth has been signed into law by Gov. Tom Wolf.
Act 31 of 2022 amends the Workforce Development Act (2001) to bring state law in compliance with the federal requirements of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
“Uniformity and consistency are key in the sharing of best practices, maintenance, and promotion of effective programs that will better meet the needs of employers and ensure quality job opportunities for all Pennsylvanians,” said Mizgorski. “I want to thank members of the House and Senate for their unanimous support of this legislation.”
WIOA seeks to improve the workforce development system through innovation and alignment of employment, training and education throughout the country. The act calls for the creation of state and local level workforce development boards, all of which are tasked with creating and maintaining effective programs, sharing best practices, and training U.S. workers for high-paying and family-sustaining jobs.
