HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania state Rep. Sheryl M. Delozier (R-Cumberland) supported the state budget plan passed Thursday evening that makes investments in education, public safety and infrastructure and provides taxpayer relief for vulnerable Pennsylvanians.
Delozier said she voted yes on the spending plan because it takes steps to assist small businesses, returns public dollars for relief and invests in issues important to her.
“This budget uses state and one-time federal dollars to help various sectors across the Commonwealth. With this budget, we fund two new state trooper classes, appropriate $100 million for school safety and another $100 million for mental health services,” Delozier said. “The budget also includes increased funding for Property Tax/Rent Rebate and the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, childcare relief for families and additional dollars to aid the intellectual and developmental disabilities waiver program and remove over 800 people from the waiting list.”
The budget includes more basic education funding for schools across the state. Mechanicsburg Area School District in Delozier’s district, for example, will be receiving an additional $965,000 and an additional $181,000 for special education.
“While billions of dollars are being invested for the benefit of Pennsylvanians, we are also paying off long-time state debt, reducing business taxes and depositing an additional $2.1 billion into the Rainy-Day Fund to protect taxpayers in the event of an economic downturn. This plan has received bipartisan support and I look forward to seeing the governor’s signature on this budget,” Delozier added.
