Cutler recognizes impact member had on entire chamber

HARRISBURG – Speaker of the House Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster) issued the following statement upon being notified of the passing of former member, Rep. Jeff Pyle, who proudly represented the 60th legislative district in Armstrong, Butler and Indiana counties from 2005-2021:

“If there was one person who embodied the spirit, energy and effort it takes to properly represent your home in the General Assembly, it was Rep. Jeff Pyle. Upon learning of his passing, I was filled with profound sadness and appreciation.

“As I stated publicly when he retired, I was fortunate enough to get a firsthand look at how Rep. Pyle approached his work early in my career because Jeff and I shared an office space in the State Capitol. Even in recent years, when Rep. Pyle faced his own health challenges, he never wavered in his relentless efforts to improve the lives of those he represents, and he set an example for each of us to try and follow. He has been a great member and best friend.

“Every member who spent any amount of time with Jeff would be struck by his unwavering commitment to the trust given to him by the public, and his ability to lighten the mood and bring everyone together. We will honor his memory through our own tireless effort to carry out the work on behalf of our constituents.

“I will keep Jeff’s wonderful family and friends in my prayers at this difficult time, and we will carry his spirit with us as we return to session next week, and in the years to come.”
