HARRISBURG – Legislation authored by state Rep. Sheryl M. Delozier (R-Cumberland) that would allow refrigerants in the Commonwealth to be listed as acceptable alternatives to hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) under the federal Clean Air Act was signed into law by Gov. Tom Wolf today.
House Bill 2079, now
Act 123 of 2022, resolves a conflict between a technicality in Pennsylvania’s Uniform Construction Code (UCC) and a federal law concerning the Environmental Protection Agency’s required refrigerants.
“This law will have lasting, positive impacts on the environment and the economy, and will keep Pennsylvania at the forefront of the manufacturing industry. I am glad the governor saw the value of my legislation and promptly signed it into law,” Delozier said.
In addition to reducing greenhouse gasses emitted by HFCs, more jobs could be created to fill the emerging market for newer refrigeration products and technology.
