HARRISBURG – State Rep. Jim Cox (R-Berks/Lancaster) today voted for a balanced state budget bill approved by the House that would fund the government without raising taxes.

“We’re working in the General Assembly to deliver a balanced, on-time budget for the governor to sign,” Cox said. “The budget we approved would fund state government without further burdening taxpayers.”

The $30 billion budget approved by the House would ensure the state government continues to operate without the negative consequences that can accompany a drawn-out budget delay.

The state fiscal year ends at midnight on Tuesday, June 30. The House and Senate are working to deliver the budget bill to the governor in time to begin the new fiscal year with a spending plan in place.

“I hope the governor will sign this responsible state budget into law,” Cox said. “I would encourage him to put the needs of taxpayers and residents ahead of his own agenda and sign the state budget bill.”

The bill now heads to the Senate for consideration.
