HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania House Republican Leader Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster) said Wednesday that Grow PA, the higher education plan put forward by Republicans in the Pennsylvania House and Senate, provides the details and focus missing from the governor’s proposal made earlier this year.
“I applaud the work of House Republican Education Chairman Jesse Topper (R-Bedford/Fulton), as well as Sen. Ryan Aument (R-Lancaster) and Sen. Scott Martin (R-Lancaster), on developing this detail-oriented and thoughtful approach to higher education reform,” Cutler said. “Grow PA strikes the right balance between accountability and accessibility in public higher education while providing the amount of detail necessary to inform Pennsylvanians about how these changes will benefit their families and the higher education landscape in Pennsylvania.”
Cutler said the Grow PA plan, announced earlier today, will reform Pennsylvania’s higher education by increasing access to affordable opportunities, providing a focus on education in Pennsylvania’s growth sectors, and keeping college graduates in Pennsylvania while also ensuring colleges and universities receiving public support are accountable to the taxpayers.
“Grow PA is a realistic and achievable plan that will open the doors of higher education to more students by making the goal of improvement through meaningful learning more accessible and affordable,” Cutler said. “When looking at how to reform higher education, the Grow PA plan aligns sound priorities with an outcome-based approach that puts an emphasis on accountability and Pennsylvania’s future. It has my complete support.”
