HARRISBURG – State Rep. Robert Leadbeter (R-Columbia) announced today House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rob Kauffman (R-Franklin) appointed him to serve as the Republican chairman of the Subcommittee on Courts for the 2025-26 Legislative Session.
The Subcommittee on Courts is a specialized subcommittee within the House Judiciary Committee that focuses on issues relating to Pennsylvania’s judiciary and court system. Some key responsibilities include oversight of Pennsylvania courts, spearheading investigations into judicial misconduct, considering policies relating to the operational aspects of the judiciary and shaping laws that govern the judicial branch.
“I’m humbled to be named to this esteemed checks-and-balances position to ensure our laws are being followed,” said Leadbeter. “Law and order are non-negotiables to ensure the safety of all Columbia County residents and Pennsylvanians. I share the same philosophy as President Donald Trump that there’s no place for activist judges who defy our laws. If there’s overwhelming evidence that an activist judge is misbehaving in his or her role, one of my responsibilities would be to begin the impeachment process of that individual. I thank Chairman Kauffman for trusting me to serve in this position.”
“Rep. Leadbeter is a trusted and proven leader who I know will excel in this position,” said Kauffman. “I look forward to working with him in this new capacity within the committee.”
The 109th Legislative District includes all of Columbia County. Constituents can contact Leadbeter’s offices at 570-387-0246 or 570-759-8734 with state-related matters or to share their thoughts on legislative issues.
