HARRISBURG – The
Pennsylvania Artificial Intelligence (AI) Opportunity Task Force, chaired by Rep. Stephenie Scialabba (R-Butler), conducted site tours from April 29 through May 2 of several western Pennsylvania establishments to learn more about how AI is being developed and applied in various settings.
During the four days, the task force visited Allegheny Health Network in Monroeville; laser, optics and semiconductor manufacturer Coherent in Saxonburg; the U.S. Army AI Integration Center in Pittsburgh; Commonwealth Charter Academy’s TechWorks in Homestead; Bayer in Indianola; AI-driven perception systems company Hellbender in Pittsburgh; data infrastructure and analytics company Lovelace AI in Pittsburgh; health care-focused AI company Abridge in Pittsburgh; the Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University; and language learning application company DuoLingo in Pittsburgh.
“Artificial intelligence is an ever-evolving technology that presents a host of opportunities, but rightfully raises concerns in the minds of many,” said Scialabba. “These task force tours and roundtables provided us with insight into the development and real-world implementations of AI, some of which are just scratching the surface of what can be done to improve lives.”
